Ramadan is the month when everything is multiplied: fasting, prayer, reading the Quran, and generosity. It is also the time when the same question comes back every year: when does it start, and how do you make the most of it? Here is the Ramadan 2027 calendar and the deeds that count most.

When does Ramadan 2027 start?

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 (or Sunday 7, depending on the sighting of the moon) and to last 29 or 30 days. Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday 9 March 2027. Exact dates are confirmed the day before by the religious authorities of each country.

In 2027, Ramadan falls in the middle of winter in Europe: short fasting days of around 11 hours.

Why generosity counts double in Ramadan

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was most generous in Ramadan.”

Al-Bukhari, Muslim, from Ibn 'Abbas.

Scholars explain that good deeds done in Ramadan are rewarded more than outside it, and that a deed done on the Night of Decree is worth more than the same deed repeated for a thousand months. This is why so many families choose this month to give a Sadaqah Jariyah: a charity whose reward continues long after the month ends.

The 5 deeds that count most

  1. Fasting sincerely, and the tarawih prayer every evening.
  2. The Quran: a full reading over the month, one juz' a day.
  3. Sadaqah Jariyah: a well, a fruit tree, a Quran. Ordered during Ramadan, it keeps counting for years. A tree in your name costs €28.
  4. Feeding a fasting person: “Whoever gives food to a fasting person receives the same reward as him” (at-Tirmidhi). An iftar offered, a meal shared.
  5. The last ten nights: intensify supplications and seek the Night of Decree.

Planning your Sadaqah Jariyah for Ramadan 2027

A well takes a few weeks to a few months to build. For a well to be under way during the month, order it from January 2027. A tree or an Aqiqah is completed faster. In all cases, the intention and the order made during Ramadan count from that moment, and you receive the video on completion.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ramadan 2027 start on 7 or 8 February?

Astronomical calculations point to 8 February 2027. Some countries relying on visual sighting may announce the 7th or 9th. The date is confirmed the evening before.

When is Eid al-Fitr 2027?

Tuesday 9 March 2027, subject to the sighting of the moon. Ramadan will last 29 or 30 days.

Can I give a Sadaqah Jariyah in the name of a deceased person during Ramadan?

Yes, it is even the most common practice. You enter the name when ordering; it appears on the plaque of the well or in the planting video.

Is the reward counted at the order or at completion?

The reward depends on the intention and the act of giving, which take place at the order. The completion on the ground then extends this reward as long as the well or the tree benefits people.
